In addition to promoting the March 2013 Dragon Ball Z anime movie, the big Toei talk out of international TV and entertainment trade show MIPCOM was that a theatrical CG animated Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiak
is in the works. Toei Animation chairman Kozo Morishita is promising
that movie that is a "top-level budget and will be delivered in S3D and
CGI 3D."
Morishita added that "in Japan, audiences are not yet fond of
stereostropic films but it's crucial to provide a 3D version for
territories like China."
On making a movie, then possibly following it up with a TV series, he said
"In the past we'd produced a TV series first and then a film, but
we've found that delivering a movie before embarking on a series is a
great way to test the appetite of audience and limit risks."
Toei Animation will produce a 13-minute promo before the end of the
year and is hoping the production will be completed in July 2013. Toei
is also in talks with video game companies for tie-ins to the relaunch
of the long running fighting manga/anime franchise.
