S.H.MonsterArts Gigan Revealed

 

 The latest Kaiju to join the S.H.MonsterArts series is none other than one of Godzilla's most fearsome opponents- the mighty Gigan. Based on his most recent appearance in 2004's Godzilla Final Wars, Gigan comes replete with enough interchangeable cutlery to throw master chefs around the world up in arms. 

Rotating chainsaw accessories and other interchangeable parts can be applied to portray Gaigan in his "Power Up" form. The dorsal fins are also articulated to depict Gigan when in flight. Finally, Gaigan’s red eye has been rendered in detail, using clear parts for an added effect.

Look for S.H. MonsterArts GIGAN in May 2014 priced at a MSRP of $94.99.

 

Will Smith as Ultraman in a US Ultraman Movie?

 

 After 16 years of legal battles, the company Chaiyo (which many believe stole and forged documents to steal the rights to Ultraman) has beaten Tsuburaya (the original creators of Ultraman) in all courts, paving the way for Chaiyo to move forward with whatever Ultraman projects they'd like. And one of them appears to be a US movie for Ultraman.

The star of the 1992 Godzilla vs. Mothra film will feature articulated maw, wing and leg areas and include a special stand to display the monster in flying poses.

The WB and Legendary Pictures panel/screening has just wrapped at SDCC 2013 and we have some serious news regarding theGodzilla 2014 film! Luke Y. Thompson of Topless Robot attended the screening and had this to say in regards to the Godzilla footage shown:

Wonder Box Studios Reveals Lakor Baby 1/6th Ultraman Figure

 

 Now this is certainly a strange and interesting piece. World Box Studios revealed their next entry in the Lakor Baby line and it’s none other then Ultraman.

Even more interesting is that the figure will indeed include a Kaiju to fight...and not just any Kaiju but the King himself: a little baby Godzilla as an accessory/companion piece.

Akira Takarada Will Appear In New GODZILLA Film

 

 In a welcome nod to the franchise's heritage, Akira Takarada, who played heroic salvage ship captain Hideto Ogata in 1954's original Gojira, was on the set of upcoming Hollywood Godzilla remake's Vancouver shoot for what seems likely to be at least a cameo appearance.

Bandai's Vinyl GODZILLA Series Roars On

 

In a variety of formats, including a realistic soft vinyl series, stylish Tokyo Vinyl series and an all-new mini CHIBi SD assortment. New figures on display in the 6.5" realistic series (SRP $10.99) included Minilla (aka Baby Godzilla) and King Caesar (an odd, but cool new addition).

 

  Minilla makes another appearance in Bandai's 5.5" Tokyo Vinyl series (SRP $16.99 each), super stylized characters designed by TOMA. Joining Godzilla and Mechagodzilla in the series, look for Minilla and an awesome King Ghidorah.

S.H.MonsterArts Destroyah Revealed!

 

 Destoroyah , alternatively Destroyah, or Destroyer, is a kaiju from the 1995 film Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. He originated as a colony of Precambrian crustaceans that had been awakened and mutated when the Oxygen Destroyer was detonated to kill the original Godzilla in 1954 (Godzilla).

Not to be left out, our friends at Bluefin have been joining in the fun, all but confirming mere moments before an image was revealed that Sailor Moon would finally receive some much-needed attention!

Iron Man 3 Writer to Script More "Realistic" Godzilla Movie

 

Drew Pearce is making some kaiju sized footprints in Hollywood franchises these days. He's on board for the third Iron Man movie, the third Robert Downey Jr Sherlock Holmes movie, and now he's hired for a revised script for the new American Godzilla reboot. David Callahan (The Expendables), David S. Goyer (Dark Knight) and Max Borenstein (The Seventh Son) scripted earlier versions.

According to Variety, the polish isn't being done because studio Legendary Pictures has any major problems with the script; it wants to age up the characters so that they fit the prototype of the actors they would like to target. Sources also told Variety that Pearce is now being brought in to do a four-week polish on the script. Casting is expected to begin soon.

SciFi Japan TV Gives Us a Look into Tokusatsu!

One of the rarest things to find with relation to Tokusatsu is behind-the-scenes coverage of our favorite shows and movies. It’s becoming more and more prevalent now, but it’s still hard to find interviews with the people behind a lot of the old classics, such as Godzilla, Ultraman, Gamera, etc.

SciFi Japan looks to change that with their new show SciFi Japan TV on the Gaijin Channel on YouTube. With a look into events like showcases of a Tokusatsu museum and interviews with people such as the producer of Ultraman Max, Takeshi Yagi, this show looks to give us the insider coverage we fans would like to see.
