Pokémon X And Y Developers On The Importance of Balancing Sound And Music9

The Pokémon Company recently released the Pokémon X & Pokémon Y Super Music Collection, which features three hours of music for $9.99 on iTunes. To mark the occasion, director (and composer) Junichi Masuda and sound director Shota Kageyama talked about the importance of the games; sound and music, in an interview with Famitsu magazine.

According to Kageyama, “beauty” was an important keyword  that played the role in the majority of music that was composed for Pokémon X and Y. While approaching aspects of the music such as tone and melodies, he thought of various ways of bringing out the feeling of “people are beautiful,” as he composed the music.

Nintendo Not Interfering With Bayonetta 2 Development Says PlatinumGames

In an interview with Gamasutra, PlatinumGamess’ Yusuke Hashimoto and Atsushi Inaba comment on the developer’s relationship with Nintendo, who are publishing their next two games—The Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2.

Hashimoto, who is directing Bayonetta 2, says that rather than interfering with development, Nintendo have been more of an observer that provides critical advice when necessary, rather than interfering with development.

“And all of the things we want to do in the game, they’re not standing in our way, in that sense,” Hashimoto says. “But it’s almost as if they are a very critical player that can sit back and give us great advice on how we’re creating the game.”

Darkstalkers Resurrection Has Been In Development For A Year

Last week, Capcom announced Darkstalkers Resurrection for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. The two-game bundle, which includes updated versions of Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge and Darkstalkers 3, will be released in early 2013 with online play and other enhancements.

Capcom USA’s Senior Vice-President, Christian Svensson, shared today on the company’s official forums that Darkstalkers Resurrection has been in development for about a year, and in planning for even longer. This is the reason the game hasn’t been announced for a Wii U release, Svensson clarifies.

"Transformers: War for Cybertron" Developers Making Marvel Game

After decades of crap, I had pretty much accepted that we were never going to get a good Transformers video game. High Moon Studios rolled around with 2010's Transformers: War for Cybertron, proving me wrong and providing a fast-paced, fan-faithful, and above all fun shooting/transforming/giant-robot-fighting experience.

While many of us wait breathlessly for WfC's follow-up, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, High Moon has stated that its next project is all about Marvel Comics. No other details were given, but High Moon will make a full announcement about the game at San Diego Comic-Con (this coming July 12-15, although the "Marvel Video Games" panel will be on July 14th).

The smart thing to do is not get overly excited, but being the huge True Believer that I am, it's difficult not to! Here are three recent Marvel arcs I'd love to see get a solid single-player action-adventure treatment from High Moon:

nova
Annihilation- Instead of a fight to save just the Earth, Nova and other C-list spacefaring superheroes have to band together against an unstoppable cosmic army that grinds everything in its path to dust. This is the Gurren-Lagann of comic books, and would make an awesome HD superhero gaming spectacle.

"Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver" Series Reboot in Development?

Quick, name some of the best games from the PS1 era! The first person to say something that isn't a JRPG wins, because there were plenty of brilliant games from all around the world and from all genres--one of the real standouts being Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, a sequel to the top-down actioner Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain.

"Darkstalkers 4" Development Underway at Capcom

VentureBeat, a news portal better known for covering the inner workings of the Silicon Valley startup scene and all of its associated angles, such as technology and software development is reporting that its own sources inside Capcom have confirmed that work is underway on the long-requested fourth entry in the Darkstalkers fighting game franchise, the last major release being Darkstalkers 3 in 1997, before characters from the franchise were meted out in various crossover fighting games also developed by Capcom over recent years.
