‘Skyrim’ Update 1.9 Adds Legendary Difficulty, Removes Skill Level Cap

A new update for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has hit PC today, which should make players looking for a little more challenge happy. Of course, the update also introduces some general bug fixes into the game, but it’s the game’s two Legendary features that are the big news.
Bethesda is introducing a Legendary difficulty into the game to make dragon battles and all enemy encounters a little more oomph. Players that have logged several 100 hours in the game can use the Legendary difficulty to add a little more challenge to the proceedings.
To that point, the new update also includes a Legendary reset for level 100 skills. Think of this feature like Call of Duty‘s Prestige system, whereby players can reset their skills back to level 15.
Moreover, the feature allows players to continue earning the associated experience as each skill’s level increases. In essence, the new feature eliminates the level cap for skills. So, while the number might say 15 or 20 or whatever, it will actually be 100+.
Fear not, though, the update fixes over 100 “problems” with the game, many of which are related to Skyrim‘s hundreds of missions. The update also tweaks some of the missions in Skyrim‘s various DLC expansions, among them Dawnguard andDragonborn. Check out the full list of fixes below:

Skyrim DLC Gets Dates fo Playstation 3 Owners

PlayStation 3 owners definitely got the short end of the stick when it came to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Not only was the PS3 version plagued with several bugs at launch, but gamers have been unable to access any of the downloadable content that’s been available to Xbox 360 users for several months. It’s been a frustrating wait for players, and there was even a time when Bethesda claimed that some DLC may never make its way to the PS3.
Thankfully the wait is nearly over for PlayStation enthusiasts hoping to once again boot up The Elder Scrolls V and saunter around the land of Skyrim with some new content. Bethesda announced that the downloadable add-ons Dragonborn, Dawngaurd, and Hearthfire would finally be arriving on the PSN in February – after getting help from Sony to make the content compatible with the console – but fans have been clamouring for specifics regarding the contents’ impending release.

Skyrim DLC Dated For Playstation 3

Bethesda can never completely whitewash the legacy of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s DLC on the PlayStation 3 — the obfuscation and frustration brought on months of development latency; a myriad of struggles and mysteries (which weren’t entirely of the company’s own doing); and a lacking, even misleading level of communication with anxious fans (which kind of was).
But they can build on it. Bethesda began setting the stage for post-release Skyrim content on the PS3 late last year when they confirmed Dragonborn, the game’s second and most recent expansion, for an “early 2013″ release and promised it would be followed shortly by Dawnguard and Hearthfire

Watch a trailer of Dragonborn below:

Posting on their official blog, Bethesda announced February 5th as Dragonborn’s PC release date on Steam, adhering to the Xbox 360′s  month-or-maybe-two exclusivity net. While no specific dates were mentioned with regard to the PlayStation 3, Bethesda says that Dragonborn will be February’s first release, followed by Hearthfire and then Dawnguard within same month. Skyrim update 1.8 will precipitate the process, appearing for download “just prior to Dragonborn.”
