VIZ Launches TIGER & BUNNY Manga Series

Find out in the TIGER & BUNNY manga (graphic novel), now available from VIZ Media, the largest distributor and licensor of anime and manga in North America. The new series, published under the VIZ Media imprint, is rated ‘T’ for Teens and carries an MSRP of $9.99 U.S. / $12.99 CAN. Volume 1 also features 4 pages of additional full-color character art.

The TIGER & BUNNY manga features artwork by Mizuki Sakakibara and is based on the hit animated series, created by the famed Tokyo-based anime studio Sunrise, that has thrilled legions of fans across North America on VIZ Media’s Neon Alley, VIZAnime, and Hulu. The 26-episode anime sci-fi/action adventure notably features character and hero designs conceived by Masakazu Katsura (VIDEO GIRL AI and I"S; both available from VIZ Media) that are also carried over to the new manga property.

Sakura-Con 2013: Yen Will Revive Kingdom Hearts Manga!

 

Sakura-Con is still going on as we speak, and Josh "Totsu" Totman is scouring the entire con like a beast! As he storms through the catacombs of Seattle's anime convention, JT has discovered Yen Press's latest announcements. 

Just to get this one out of the way, Yen has plans to bring over No matter how I look at it, it's you Guy's fault I'm not popular. Don't let the long title fool you, because this is actually a manga -- don't worry, I was fooled too. From the looks of it, the I'm not popular manga covers the story of a recluse lonely girl that's attempting to become the most popular student in her high school. 

Viz To Publish Three Pokémon Manga This Year

Viz Media will be debuting three new Pokémon manga this year, from March through August, each one focusing on different aspects and characters of the Pokémon universe.

First up is Pokémon the Movie: Kyurem vs. the Sword of Justice, which will be released on March 5th. This is a companion manga to the most recent Pokémon movie of the same name.

"Saint Seiya Omega" Gets New Manga

 

 The Saint Seiya Omega official site announced that the popular anime will start a new chapter in April.

 

The new chapter will feature new characters! There is no image available for the new character yet, but it's a goddess who had something to do with Athena in the past, I will tentatively spell her name "Palas" since no English spelling is available yet. Palas will be the main antagonist in the new chapter and there is a fighter who supports her called "Palasite" with an ability to manipulate time. Palas also has a subordinate, Titan with her.

Gavan Web Manga #1 Online, New Novels To Follow

 

 With the release of the brand new Space Sheriff Gavan movie just around the corner and a crossover into Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters behind him, the original Metal Hero is enjoying quite a revival. To add to these, Akita Publishing has just released the first episode of a brand new Gavan web manga, which can be viewed online (in Japanese of course).

 

 Not only that, but two new Gavan novels have been announced - one featuring the original Gavan, and the second featuring the new Gavan Type-G. The first book, "Space Sheriff Gavan The Novel", continues the adventures of Retsu Ichijouji and a mysterious character named Julia. According to the synopsis, a new criminal organization named Metos appears and hijacks the Dolgiran. With the spacecraft taken, how will Retsu change into Gavan?

"Duel Masters" Manga Adaptation "Duel Masters Rev."

 

 Duel Masters Rev., a new manga adaptation of the Duel Masters game, just started in the latest edition of Shonen Sunday weekly manga magazine by Shogakukan. It is written by Syd Kanzaki (Silent Blood) with the manga drawn by Shinsuke Takahashi (Yuugeki Shojo Yuumi). The first installment of the new manga debuts in Shonen Sunday Vol. 39 on sale today (August 29, 2012).

uel Masters Rev. (The "Rev." stands for "Revolution") is based on the modern-day fantasy trading card game, Duel Masters. In it, the main characters was once absorbed in card battles as a boy, but he has since forgotten the joy he used to get out of it. Now he takes up his cards once again. More details will come to light as the series progresses.

This isn't the first Duel Masters manga. There was a Duel Masters manga written by Shigenobu Matsumoto that was published in Shogakukan's childrens' manga magazine CoroCoro that ran for 17 volumes. There is an American Duel Masters comic by Dreamwave Productions. TokyoPop also produced a "Cine-Manga" based on the Duel Masters anime.

New Sailor Moon Anime Announced for Summer 2013

 

This was...well, now that the cat's out of the bag it's not unusual, but I certainly didn't see it coming. Kodansha have announced a brand-spanking new Sailor Moon anime series is in production to hit the tubes next summer, in conjunction with the iconic magical girl manga's 20th anniversary.

Momentous news! We don't know much besides that, except that alterna-idol group Momoiro Clover Z is performing the opening theme.

Fans hoping that a new Sailor Moon anime would be announced during the 20th anniversary event streamed live from Nico Nico got their wish. Specifics on the plans for the new version of Naoko Takeuchi's seminal magic girl work were not announced beyond a summer 2013 time frame, but it is coming.

Momoiro Clover Z, who joined the event from  Japan Expo 2012 in Paris via satellite to sing "Moonlight Densetsu," will be performing the anime's theme song.

Some big names in the field have contributed to the two newly released volumes of Magazine House's Hometown Manga series. Lupin III creator Monkey Punch and Fullmetal Alchemist's Hiromu Arakawa are among the manga artists who write about growing up in Hokkaido prefecture, while Captain Harlock creator Leiji Matsumoto headlines the Fukuoka collection. 

Black God Manga Ending

 

Square Enix has revealed that, after seven-and-a-half years, Dall-Young Lim and Sung-woo Park's supernatural action manga Kurokami (Black God) will be ending its Young Gangan run with this year's 13th issue, on sale June 18.

 A manga sequel to Jetman was published in 1996 authored by Akiko Fujii, in cooperation with the series’ writing team (still under the Saburo Yatsude pen name). It was titled Chōjin Sentai Jetman: Toki o Kakete (鳥人戦隊ジェットマン 時を駆けて^?, “Time Flies”). Set five years after the series (and, therefore, two years after the story ends), it shows the four remaining Jetmen rejoining to battle a revived Radiguet, who had possessed Tranza’s broken body. Radiguet kidnaps Ryu and Kaori’s one-year-old daughter Aya Tendo and, much in the same way he turned Rie into Maria before, he accelerates her growth and brainwashes her into becoming Ruma, whom he considers a daughter.

Final Fantasy Type-0 Gets Spinoff Manga Series

 

 his year's May issue of Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine began serialization on a Final Fantasy Type-0 spinoff manga titled Final Fantasy Type-0 Gaiden: Hyōken no Shinigami. Takatoshi Shiozawa (Full Moon) is drawing the manga with editorial supervision by Tetsuya Nomura. The manga will center on the character Kurasame. Shonen Gangan's official website is currently hosting a preview of the manga. The website is also currently hosting four wallpapers from both the Final Fantasy Type-0 manga and the Final Fantasy Type-0 Gaiden: Hyōken no Shinigami spinoff manga.
