Back in 2009, NTT docomo released an Evangelion cellphone that were sold out within 5 hours despite its steep price of 90,000 yen. They have now announced a new docomo NEXT series SH-06D NERV, which is supposedly the first official Evangelion smartphone.
The design of this smartphone would be similar to the cellphones that are issued by NERV in the upcoming Rebuild of Evangelion film, so expect fans of the movie to go crazy and start another craze to obtain this prized merchandise.
The NERV smarphone is expected to go on sale in Jun 2012 and will be on display during the upcoming Anime Content Expo (mmbi booth) happening end March, so expect to see more photos of the production model then.
