Quick, name some of the best games from the PS1 era! The first person to say something that isn't a JRPG wins, because there were plenty of brilliant games from all around the world and from all genres--one of the real standouts being Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, a sequel to the top-down actioner Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain.
With amazing, vibrant graphics for its time, 3D platforming and combat that were amazingly smooth for a PS1 game, and smart engine design that all but eliminated load times, Soul Reaver was a real step forward for 3D action games, with the series getting several more installments on sixth-gen consoles. However, the Legacy of Kain series has all but disappeared--the last time we saw Raziel and the ruthless vampire lord Kain was in 2003's only-okay Legacy of Kain: Defiance for PS2, Xbox, and PC.

According to VG427, Crystal Dynamics isn't just planning on rebooting the Tomb Raider series. Legacy of Kain is also reportedly in the works--specifically the Soul Reaver spin-off series. Unfortunately, Square-Enix hasn't offered any comment on this, but just the hope of a new Legacy of Kain game is something worth talking about.
