In a welcome nod to the franchise's heritage, Akira Takarada, who played
heroic salvage ship captain Hideto Ogata in 1954's original Gojira, was on the set of upcoming Hollywood Godzilla remake's Vancouver shoot for what seems likely to be at least a cameo appearance.
Takarada's Ogata can be seen in the lower left
The actor played other roles in the 1964 and 1992 Godzilla versus Mothra movies, 1966's Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster and 2004's Godzilla: Final Wars.
